May 16th

I'm officially falling more and more in love with Guatemala. The country is beyond beautiful and the people are incredible. The past few days have been spent up in the mountains of Rio Dolce. We finished building Tiffany's bridge yesterday. We woke up at 3:30am and worked till the evening. The four villages surrounding the bridge came out and helped lay the concrete which was an incredible experience to have different people with different backgrounds all working together for the same purpose. Yesterday we hiked to a waterfall that was fed by a sulfur hot spring. It was surreal swimming in the waterfall in the middle of these mountains. The place was beautiful and looked like something out of a dream. today we are off to another village in the mountains. We will be there for four days. Because of the rainy season we cannot drive up for risk of getting stuck on the muddy roads. So we are all going to Hume up with everything including our food.

Just a quick thought that has been on my mind lately. In our bible studies every morning we have been talking a lot about following Gods will for our lives. So many of us claim to follow God and are Christians, But do we really follow God? How many of us can look back on our day and truly say that we put God first before everything. I know I can't say that i do that every day. I know for a fact there have been times when I feel like spending time with God, but only first I have to write an email or go finish my homework or any other distraction in life. How many times do we claim we are following God, but don't show it with our actions.

One night Kayla and I were talking on the roof and she told me about something God showed her that has struck home with me. Her greatest fear would be to arrive in heaven and God show her everything that He had in store for her life, BUT she didn't accomplish it because she was too busy with her own life/worries/past that she didn't truly rely on God and his will for her life. This has now become one of my greatest fears in life, as well as a motivational drive. I don't want to arrive at heaven and realize that because I was caught up in my own hurt and past that I never accomplished what God had for my life.

My life prayer is to be so in love with God that my own desires of my heart are the exact desires of God and nothing less because I am so in tune with him. We all have incredible callings on our lives and I'm burdened with the fact that many of us are missing them because of our daily distractions that we put before God. I don't mean to write this to be negative in any sense, but to try to awaken those who need an awakened. Become in tune with God and his desires for your life. We need to stop being a generation that is so distracted that we can't even sit and be still in the presence of God for more than five minutes because I'd the idols we put before God.

Sit back right now and think about your craziest dream/want for your life. Once you have that only than realize that God has something so much better in store. Why? Because our dreams are only human size dreams and God has a God size dream for your life. In a book that we have been reading the author makes a statement that says, "We must let go of the shore before we can reach a new land." that shore is anything that is getting in the way of Gods plan for your life. my shore can easily be my insecurities and past, But God is showing me that the new land He has in store for me is far greater than the shore I'm clinging on to right now.

Make a point today to think about your shore. What does that mean to you? And what anchor do you need to let go of so that you can start your journey to that new land that God has in your life?
